Doing the Google Skibiddy-doob-dob Dance

We’ve all done it: Googled a topic on Monday, found at the very top of the SERP’s and by Tuesday, it was gone, but guess what? The next day, it’s jumped up again. This, my friends, is what I like to call the Google Skibiddy-doob-dob dance.

Let’s just put it this way, Google works in mysterious ways.

Google to me is like a wizard in working his magic high atop that Google office in Silicone Valley, juggling the arcane powers of the Internet and casting spells of obscurity on uncooperative websites.

Well, no. But given Google’s power as the Web’s largest search engine, it sure can seem that way. The Google Dance is actually quite simple, and it’s not limited to Google; all the search engines do it. They periodically update the engine’s index, algorithms and all that other spiel. FYI: Google updates weekly, usually on Mondays. During this update, the Google Bot will spider the Internet and then do magical things like count the total number of websites’ in its power, analyze incoming and outgoing links, and adjust SERP’s accordingly for any given keyword search term. Amazing little robot, isn’t it… I like to think of Google Bot’s as Google’s Dancing shoes.
